About Benchmark

The place to learn and actually understand technicals.

Benchmark was made by Alton Machen and James Ohr, two former Evercore analysts. We remember the mess of paywalls and scattered information we dealt with when we were prepping for banking interviews as college students.

The spelunking we had to do to find the information to even start learning was a waste of time for everyone involved, and we were tired of watching other people waste their time too. We made Benchmark to fix that problem.

How it works

The format was inspired by Khan Academy and test prep platforms. Content is organized into topics, subtopics, and individual skills. You practice a skill in short sets, and master it by answering a full set correctly in a row — the same mastery-based approach that works for any hard technical subject. Your progress is tracked across every topic and difficulty level.
